Welcome to Quad ("we," "our," or "us"). Quad is operated by Atlas Studios LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.

  • Account information: name, email address, university affiliation, password
  • Profile information: gender (optional), phone number (required for Host applicants), Instagram handle (required for Hosts with invite codes)
  • Event-related information: event registrations, check-ins, unique QR codes for event access
  • Host application information: responses and details submitted when applying to host events
  • Communications: messages, feedback, and support requests sent to us

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you use the Service, we automatically collect limited technical data, including:

  • Device information: device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers
  • Usage data: pages or screens visited, features used, and time spent on the Service
  • Log data: IP address, browser type, access times, and referring URLs
  • Analytics data: user actions (signups, logins, profile updates), event interactions (views, joins, check-ins), page views, and application activity for service improvement and analytics purposes

Note: We do not currently collect or track location data. Event locations are provided by event creators and are not tied to your device location.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our Service
  • Verify your university student status through .edu email verification
  • Process event registrations and manage participation
  • Enable event check-ins using unique QR codes
  • Balance gender ratios in certain events (if gender information is provided)
  • Filter and display events based on university visibility settings
  • Communicate with you about events, updates, and support
  • Review and process Host applications
  • Analyze usage patterns and engagement metrics to improve user experience and service functionality
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the limited circumstances below:

4.1 Event Participation

Quad is designed for "blind events," where participants do not know who else is attending until arrival.

  • Event Hosts: can verify your attendance by scanning your QR code but cannot view your name or email.
  • Administrators: may access participant names and emails for event management and support.
  • Other Participants: cannot view your personal details. The Service preserves event anonymity.
  • Gender information: if provided, may be used by event creators to manage event balance but is not shared with participants.

4.2 Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party providers that enable our operations:

  • Supabase – cloud hosting and database storage
  • Email delivery services – sending verification and event communications

These providers access data only as needed to perform services on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information when required to do so by law or in response to valid requests from public authorities.

4.4 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. QR Codes and Event Check-In

When you register for an event, you receive a unique QR code for check-in.

  • Each code is specific to you and the event.
  • Hosts can verify attendance by scanning it but cannot view your identity.
  • The QR code is securely stored and accessible only to authorized Hosts and administrators.

6. Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption, secure authentication, and restricted data access.

However, no online service can guarantee absolute security. By using the Service, you acknowledge that transmissions over the Internet carry inherent risks.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: View and update account information in your profile settings.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and related data by contacting us.
  • Opt-Out: Unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time.
  • Data Portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a portable format.

We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service or comply with legal obligations. When you delete your account, associated data is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period unless required by law to retain it longer.

Analytics Data: Aggregated and anonymized analytics data may be retained for longer periods to analyze trends and improve our Service. This data does not identify individual users.

9. Children's Privacy

Our Service is intended for university students aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If you believe we have done so, please contact us immediately for deletion.

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your residence, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ. By using the Service, you consent to these transfers.
